If you have decided to make a change, but don’t know where to start, New Freedom Academy, a Portland drug rehab facility, can help.
At NFA, we exclusively offer adults, ages 18+, a comprehensive substance abuse recovery program. We are located in Canterbury, NH, just a couple of hours away from Portland, Maine, on 17 pristine acres in the southern end of Lakes Region of central New Hampshire. Our 20 bed dormitory provides people with a comfortable and serene environment in which to begin building a foundation for lasting recovery.
At New Freedom Academy, we offer clients a treatment program that is both intensive and effective.
Individuals will benefit from cutting edge clinical systems, combined with 12 Step philosophy. This means that clients will experience individual therapy, therapeutic small process groups, specialty and experiential therapy groups, and motivational interviewing, in addition to learning about and applying the 12 steps. Clients will also have access to life skills training, nutrition programs, and body-centered therapies such as yoga and fitness. At our Portland drug rehab facility, we believe in treating the entire person. While sobriety is a main goal, many other factors play into the health and happiness of individuals.
We have fully integrated the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous into our treatment program.
It is our belief that the book Alcoholics Anonymous, also know as The Big Book, is the best clinical manual for alcoholism and addiction treatment ever written. This text contains precise instructions on how to recover from the illness of addiction. While it is true that no one can be cured of addiction, they can and do recover. This means there is no longer a struggle to get and stay clean. This happens as a result of working and applying the steps as outlined in the book. We encourage our clients to explore and adopt this method of recovery, as it has proved to be so incredibly life changing.
It is quite common for individuals suffering with addiction to also have a co-occurring disorder, such as depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder.
At our Portland drug rehab facility, we have established an exceptional team of professionals that comprise our co-occurring disorders team. It is led by a psychiatrist, direct care managed by a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and the process is supported by master’s-level therapists, all well-versed in addiction treatment. We believe it is important to address all issues a person may be having during their time with us. We are dedicated to helping people recover wholly.
